Sudan
Background
Five Talents currently supports two different types of microfinance programmes in Southern Sudan.
The Village Banking programme serves a community of up to 30,000 people in Lietnhom, Gogrial East Country, and has been running since 2005.
The Financial Literacy programme was started in 2010 in partnership with the Mothers’ Union and will operate in the Juba, Renk, Khartoum, Wau, Lanya and Malakal districts. This programme combines the Mothers’ Union lead literacy and numeracy programme with Five Talents’ training in business skills and savings and credit group formation and over the next five years this training will impact over 30,000 people, 70% of whom will be women.
