Baroness Cox of Queensbury
Caroline had a career in nursing and lecturing in social sciences; she was appointed to the House of Lords in 1982. She became Deputy Speaker of the House of Lords from 1986 to 2006. She is a passionate defender of human rights, addressing conflict issues and the importance of Christianity in education.
She has written several books on the subject and is currently the CEO and founder of the Humanitarian Aid Relief Trust (HART) founded in 2003. Advocating for human rights, she has personally brought humanitarian aid to Burma and Sudan and is on the All Party Parliamentary Group on North Korea. Caroline has also been an active member of the World Committee on Disability.
