Bishop Peter Hill

Peter Hill is Area Bishop of Barking in the Diocese of Chelmsford, providing leadership in Christian mission and ministry for the Church of England in 170 churches across 5 East London Boroughs and South West Essex.  Originally from Swansea, he previously taught in Manchester, served as vicar of two Nottingham mining parishes, Diocesan Chief Executive and Archdeacon of Nottingham.

In the diocese Peter currently has oversight of church planting and refugee support and partners with Citizens UK across London in community organising for the Living Wage, affordable housing and action to diminish youth violence.

A keen sport and outdoor enthusiast, he is a pilgrim walker, pilgrimage leader, cycles for pleasure (mostly on the flat!) and has faith enough to support Swansea City and Welsh rugby!
