Kwibuka—“to remember”—marks a time of deep mourning and reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. In just 100 days, more than one million people were killed. Lives were torn apart, and the effects are still felt today.
At Five Talents, we work in communities in Rwanda where the memory of these events is ever present. Communities are coming together to heal and rebuild, despite the recent trauma.
This year, we are sharing the voices of women whose lives have been shaped by these events. Their testimonies speak honestly of loss, but there is an overwhelming story of how forgiveness and courage is helping them move forward and rebuild.
We invite you to read these stories, to bear witness, and to reflect on the ongoing journey towards healing in Rwanda.
